You are what you wear....or not?

Today marks a sad day for celebrities and lawyers. Johnnie Cochran, O.J. Simpson's defense lawyer who famously phrased that "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit" (Referring to the glove that was supposedly used to kill O.J.'s ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman) has passed away. A history lesson for you today if your brain is a little rusty on the subject: Since the glove didn't fit O.J.'s hand, he sure is hell didn't committ the crime. Ah, that makes sense....

O.J. Simpson was one among many celebrities to infamously face trial in the limelight. I can recall a few celebs who recently have faced trial or jail - and are being remembered not for what they did, but for what they wore.

When Martha Stewart exited prison last month draped in a multi colored poncho made by an inmate, she didn't intend on making as big as a statement as the media portrayed it to be.....or did she? Lil Kim has recently escaped from her normal fashion routine of skimpy hot pink ensembles to more tasteful dress suiting while facing trial. And of course, my personal favorite, Michael Jackson showing up to court late a few weeks ago - in pajama bottoms.

Celebrities are known to make fashion statements, but are they trying to prove their innocence by becoming what they wear...or in O.J.'s case, what he didn't?

For Lil Kim and Jackson - their styles seem to be fitting for how they would like to be portrayed - at least for the time being. Who knows, a few months from now they might just be sporting cute little orange jump suits.

Now how's that for classy?
