I have no self-control.

Remember how I said that I was excited about building my new professional wardrobe? Well, I shot myself in the foot with that one. Almost literally.

My last day at my current job is next week. I start my new job in the beginning of September and won't get paid until October 1. This leaves the entire month of September paycheckless. No big deal right? I'm supposedly a mature and responsible girl.

So I figured I'd give up going out for a little while. No big deal. Cut back on drinking and going out, watch a few more movies, spend more time exercising and less time spending money... And I'd just spend a little bit of money to buy some professional clothes for my new job.

Well.

In the past two days alone, over lunch/shopping with the Celebutante, I've spent almost $300. Over the weekend, I spent a whole lot more than that - I refuse to list the amount because it's quite embarrassing. Since Saturday, (yes, I'm aware that it's only four days ago), I've purchased five - that's right FIVE - new pairs of shoes.

So that's it. I'm done. I have no will power. I am very angry with myself. I will not be able to go out or do ANYTHING for the next month and a half. Actually, for the next month in a half - to borrow part of a quote from Carrie Bradshaw - I could quite possibly be the little old lady who lived in her shoes... and her new Ann Taylor Loft wardrobe.

well Sara, I do still owe you a drink - so that's something you don't have to pay for.

But don't you have some accumulated vacation pay that you will get a big check on your departure?

Under the guise of saving money, I propose that you let me take you out on the town this weekend.....

But how hard is it to find a great pair of shoes for the city? Almost impossible, and you found 5!

You should be congratulated, not berated.

No...a friend sent me the link to CPMC when I asked for some material to keep me occupied while I had nothing to do at work and I saw your blog. New to the whole blogging scene.

you should try getting a job at a retail store that you adore, even if it's for a short time - i did that at j.crew (for a year though) - most of my friends come over and request to see my closet!

though, post-retail life is rough - paying full price when you're used to obscene discounts.. but then again, you don't have to harass anyone into signing up for a credit card (that was always the worst part of retail)

AM - Believe me, I feel ya on that post...

Anon - not too bad... New to the blogging scene and already flirtin ;-)

dpnation - that is a fabulous idea... Think I could get a job somewhere like JCrew or Banana that would let me only work a few hours on the weekends??

Sara I worked retail some years ago... Most places I worked were flexible with schedules and there were folks who worked only weekends or only weekday evenings. It's not an issue as long as you're honest up front about your availibility and are reliable.

I echo dpnation on the CC thing... I hated "sign up for a credit card today and save 10%?"... but to get my stuff for 50% off was pretty sweet.

Is flirting considered faux pas in the blogging world???

i don't think it's a faux pas. i think that there are some VERY flirtatious bloggers out here in the dc blogosphere... just read around - you'll see :-)

Sara, I too have the same ricockulous shopping habits. But if you stay in all next month, who will see your fab finds???

I try other things to keep my occupied instead of shopping. More working out, more FREE books from the library, more cleaning around the house, etc. It's hard but worth it.
